London Weighting should be linked with pay to keep pace with rising costs, but our employers refuse to do this. With transport, food and utility bills all on the up, and rent and house prices continually increasing, we CWU members in London are suffering a step decline in our living standards.
In BT we have been waiting over 2 years for an increase in London Weighting Allowance despite increased profits in the last few years. Ask your manager at the next team brief why BT won’t pay up! Make sure that he or she passes your request on to higher management – we cannot let BT off the hook on this. They have already backtracked on committments that linked an increase in London Weighting automatically to the pay rise and we cannot not let them get away with it. We have been waiting over 2 years for an increase in London Weighting Allowance despite a massive leap in profitability in the last few years – back to the early days of privatisation in the 1980′
The campaign for BT London Weighting in 2015 is supported by all the London Branches of the CWU. Publicity material is available from your Branch office and campaign meetings across London are being held regularly.
